Deborah Williams’ dogs are instantly recognizable. They are street dogs, not dogs attached to a human, but dogs that have their own identity and inhabit their own space, a space that is often as important as the dog itself.
These beautifully created images of street dogs strike a familiar chord in most of us. Here are images we have often seen but never truly look at.
Deborah Williams is a Melbourne based artist who has held over 9 solo exhibitions and has participated in a large amount of group exhibitions. Her work is held in private and public collections in Australia including the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Gallery of New South Wales as well as in public and private collections in Ireland, Scotland, the UK, Thailand, the USA, New Guinea and Bali.
Note: Deborah's works are all "bled to the edge" which means that the works cover the whole of the paper, with raw edges. These works are best framed in a "box" frame. It is hard to see the detail of these works by the web image only. In most cases the black areas are "embossed" with more detail that is hard to make out in these web images - however the large image of "Ruby, I can hear you breathe" gives you some idea of the detail in the other works.
