Jazmina Cininas is a practicing artist, lecturer in Printmaking at RMIT and arts writer. Her work incorporates printmaking, costume, text and video. Jazmina has exhibited widely both in Australia and overseas including most recently "The Girlie Werewolf Project". She was educated at RMIT achieving a BA Honours, Fine Art (Printmaking) in 1995, MA Fine Art in 2002 and is presently doing her PhD at RMIT. She has been involved in over 50 selected group exhibitions and award exhibitions, and her work is held in many private and public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and many regional and institutional gallery collections.
Her work is intricately detailed; the long gloves with their talons look like fur, yet close-up you can see the digital manipulation of Lithuanian knitting patterns. Cininas' reductionist linocuts capture the myth of the wolf through a series of survival hints, accompanied with beautiful imagery. - Pollyanna Sutton The Space ABC Arts online.
