Geoff Ricardo was born in Melbourne in 1964. He studied printmaking at the Chisolm Institute of Technology from 1984 to 1986 and graduated from Monash University in 1990, obtaining the Graduate Diploma in Fine Art Printmaking. In both 1986 and 1988 he was awarded the Mornington Peninsula Arts Council Aquisitive Print Prize, and in 1989, the City of Doncaster Aquisitive Print Prize. He has held solo exhibitions in both Melbourne and Sydney since 1994 as well as shows in Adelaide and Perth. Ricardo has also participated in numerous groups shows throughout Australia as well as having work exhibited in London and Tokyo.
His paintings, prints and sculptures are represented at the Austrlaian National Gallery in Canberra, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in Tasmania, the Holmes A'Court Collection in Western Australia, and other regional galleries and institutions. His work is also in Many private collections. in 2005 Ricardo was a finalist in the Jaques Cadry Memorial Prize.
